Even though the iOS userbase is much smaller than Android, the Apple App Store contributes far more to the overall consumer spending on mobile apps than Google Play. In 2022, the app store generated $86 billion, which accounted for 67 percent of the total consumer spending. Apple has a large market share in the United States, China, and Japan, three of the countries with the highest spend on mobile apps.
