iOS and Google Play App Revenues

Consumer spending on apps surpassed $125 billion in 2022, with the Apple App Store responsible for 67 percent of that spend. Games are the key driver of this consumer spending, accounting for 63 percent of the total in 2022. For the first few years of both stores existence, paid apps made up a significant amount of consumer spending, but that has since switched to freemium apps offering microtransactions, which is the most popular way for app developers to generate income.
